- Profile
- Melvin Wong Yaohan is a national long-distance runner and one of Singapore's most inspiring sporting stories. Having only taken up competitive running in 2014 after years in triathlon and duathlon, he represented Singapore at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi at the age of 39, becoming the oldest runner in the marathon field and finishing eighth on a punishing course — after spending six weeks training in Australia at his own expense to earn his qualifying mark. He had previously represented Singapore at the 2015 SEA Games in the 5,000m and 10,000m, and continues to compete at the national championship level.
