- Gan Ching Hwee is a Singaporean distance swimmer and Olympian who studied nutrition science at Indiana University. She made her Olympic debut at Paris 2024 in the women's 1500m freestyle, breaking the national record in the heats, and also competed in the 800m freestyle and the women's 4x100m medley relay. Across the SEA Games 2021, SEA Games 2023, the Asian Games 2022, and the SEA Games 2025, she has been Singapore's most dominant distance freestyler, sweeping gold in the 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle at the SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia and completing a historic "triple-triple" of these same three events again at the SEA Games 2025 in Bangkok, where her 800m freestyle swim of 8:33.13 set a new Meet Record. Reflecting on her growth since her SEA Games debut in 2017, she has spoken of how the experience of competing as an underdog shaped her into the swimmer she is today.
