Chua Minglai, Ivan
Ju-jitsu
- Profile
- Ivan Chua returned to major competition after a seven-year absence to represent Singapore in the duo classic and duo show disciplines at the 2025 SEA Games alongside his brother Calvin. The pair overcame an incredibly challenging year to make it to Bangkok, with Ivan balancing training alongside supporting his mother through three surgeries and extended hospitalisation. As he shared: "This has been the hardest time of my life. Balancing that with training was incredibly tough. There were days I was physically present at training but mentally elsewhere." Their reunion on the competitive stage after such adversity made their SEA Games appearance one of the most emotionally resonant stories of Singapore's campaign in Bangkok.
