- Khirmern Bin Mohamad is a left leg amputee who took up lawn bowls competitively in 2020 after previously representing Singapore in athletics, powerlifting and sailing, drawn to the sport by its cerebral demands. His disability arose from wounds sustained in a bicycle fall that developed into gangrene, but his philosophy has always been that "everyone faces obstacles — what matters is how you deal with them." At the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, he claimed bronze in the Men's Singles B7 category, a remarkable achievement given he had only been introduced to the sport three years earlier. He and Mawjit Singh went on to claim Singapore's first-ever podium finish at the World Bowls Championships in 2023.
