- Jaspal Singh Grewal is the captain of Singapore's national men's field hockey team and one of the most decorated players in the current squad, competing at the SEA Games and Asian Games. A senior defensive leader whose experience and leadership have proved invaluable in steadying the defence against strong opponents, Jaspal's career highlights include silver medals at the 2013 and 2015 SEA Games, a 4th-place finish at the AHF Cup 2016, bronze at the 2017 SEA Games, and silver at the 2023 SEA Games. His brother Dr Ishwarpal Singh Grewal also played for the national team, with both following in the footsteps of their late father, former journalist Santokh Singh.
