- Saiyidah Aisyah is a pioneering Singaporean rower who made history as the country's first-ever Olympic rower, competing in the Women's Single Sculls at the 2016 Rio Olympics and returning for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Having started rowing at 16 after a post-exam activity pushed her into the water, she persevered through early struggles to win a gold medal at the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar and go on to become an Olympian. For Paris 2024, she qualified as the oldest Asian qualifier in the Women's Single Scull event, training for only 10 months after a change of heart, competing with remarkable resilience despite a rib injury and completing her second Olympics with characteristic determination.
