- Tay Wei Ming is Singapore's first-ever para badminton world champion, winning the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in 2017 in the Men's Doubles SU5, defeating the world number one Malaysian pair. Born with Erb's palsy that affected the growth of his right arm, Tay picked up badminton at ten after being introduced to the sport by his father, and was talent-spotted by the Singapore Disability Sports Council. A multiple ASEAN Para Games gold and silver medallist across men's singles and doubles, and a flag bearer at the ASEAN Para Games, Tay's extraordinary career spanning over two decades has made him one of Singapore's most decorated and celebrated para athletes.
