- Nurulasyiqah Mohammad Taha, known as Nurul, has spinal muscular atrophy and started playing boccia in 2004, becoming the first boccia athlete from Singapore to qualify and compete at the Paralympic Games when she made her debut at London 2012. In 2018, she clinched Singapore's first medal at the Asian Para Games, a silver in the Boccia BC3 pair event, and has since competed at multiple ASEAN Para Games editions, winning gold medals in the BC3 Individual and BC3 Pairs at the 2014 ASEAN Para Games in Myanmar. An extraordinary athlete who speaks six languages, including Korean and Japanese, which she picked up through playing boccia, Nurul's two-decade career in the sport has made her one of Singapore's most inspiring para sporting figures.
