- Jovi Jayden Kalaichelvan is a national kayaker who has been competing in sport for over two decades, making his first appearance for Singapore in 2017. Inspired by watching Michael Phelps win eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he channelled that passion into canoe sprint and has since represented Singapore at the highest regional and continental level. His major Games highlights include a bronze in the Men's K4 500m on his SEA Games debut at the 2021 Games in Hanoi and an 8th place finish at the 2023 Asian Games. When he travels for competitions, he makes a point of picking up a few phrases in the local language and using them as much as possible.
