- Tan Jun Jie Velvan picked up boxing at 12, initially as a way to get fit before discovering a deeper love for the sport through the support of his loved ones and the camaraderie of his teammates. At the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, he claimed a bronze medal in the Men's 67kg division, reaching the semi-finals before losing 4-1 to the Philippines' Norlan Bautista. He returned for the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, where Singapore's boxing contingent produced another strong showing. His story of overcoming setbacks and finding joy in competition makes him one of Singapore's most inspirational boxing figures.
