Ryo Ong Yik
Ice Skating
- Profile
- Ryo Ong Yik is a competitive short track speed skater who proudly represents Team Singapore on the international racing circuit, having originally started skating at the age of eight. He made history at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in South Korea as Singapore's flag bearer, becoming the first Singaporean short track skater to advance to the YOG semi-finals, ultimately finishing 13th overall in the Men's 1500m. To achieve this dream, he famously took a leave of absence from the Singapore Sports School in 2022 to train rigorously in South Korea under former Olympic skater Lee Ho-eung; off the ice, he balances his intense racing cycles with his public hobby of watching anime.
