Marissa Hafezan
Karate
- Profile
- Marissa Hafezan was not supposed to be at the 2025 SEA Games at all. After two shoulder dislocations and surgery in July, the plan had been to rest and recover. But she had other plans, and on 12 December she defeated Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly in the women's kumite under-55kg final to take gold, delivering Singapore's first karate title at the SEA Games in more than three decades. Having dominated the preliminary rounds before clinching the final 5-3, her victory was described as one of the standout moments of Singapore's entire Games campaign, with the last karate gold having come courtesy of Neo Ah Suan at the 1993 edition in Singapore.
