- Edwin Tan Yong Zhao is a national para chess player competing in the B1 (visually impaired) category. Diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa during a routine check-up in Primary 6, he has represented Singapore at the ASEAN Para Games in 2015 and 2017, and is a Temasek Polytechnic graduate who trains twice a week to sharpen his game. His sporting dream is to represent Singapore at the World Para Chess Championships and win a medal on the international stage.
